By strengthening regional partnerships between industry and education leaders, LAUNCH’s mission is to ensure residents of California have access to apprenticeship employment and education through the state’s robust network of community colleges. LAUNCH promotes and develops an integrated apprenticeship-centered higher education model where work-based and competency-based degree pathways are premier options for students pursuing both academic and career success.

Program focus: IT and Automotive Apprenticeships

Riverside City College’s registered Automotive Technician and Cybersecurity / IT Support apprenticeship programs offer students hands-on experience, combining on-the-job training with academic instruction, and providing wage increases as skills are mastered. These programs are fully tuition-waived and are designed in partnership with employers to connect them with qualified candidates, fostering the development of a highly skilled workforce. Network Kinection supports career development by sourcing employers and placing students in apprenticeship roles. Network Kinection also assists students who are interested in future apprenticeships by assisting them in gaining experience prior to the program.

Program focus: IT, Community Health Worker and Education Apprenticeships

Cabrillo College has partnered with regional employers to provide registered apprenticeships for students pursuing careers in IT, Education and Community Health Work. These apprenticeships offer students valuable on-the-job experience, while employers benefit from gaining quality talent in a challenging hiring market. Network Kinection plays a vital role in employer relations, helping secure partnerships to support all 3 of these apprenticeship programs.

Program focus: Automotive Apprenticeships

The Automotive Apprentice Program at Los Angeles Pierce College is designed for students aiming to complete the technical requirements of the Automotive Service Technology Associate Degree, secure employment, and potentially finish the degree while working part-time. Network Kinection plays a key role in the planning and implementation phases, facilitating employer agreements, engaging incumbent workers, and sourcing employers. The program focuses on upskilling current talent in the workforce, ensuring that both students and incumbent workers have opportunities for growth and advancement in the automotive industry.

Program focus: Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning

The Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning Unit at Mt. San Jacinto College partners with employers and the community to develop earn-and-learn programs, including apprenticeships, internships, and on-the-job training. The unit’s goal is to equip students with real-world learning experiences that lead to sustainable careers while addressing local industry workforce needs. Network Kinection supports this by sourcing employers for IT and automotive apprenticeships and providing career development, ensuring that all career learning opportunities are equitable, inclusive, and accessible. In addition to apprenticeship programs, Network Kinection is securing other work-based learning partnerships in key sectors including Logistics and Water Technology.

Program focus: Auto Apprenticeships + InTech Placement Support

Chaffey College, in partnership with LAUNCH, offers two key apprenticeship programs:

Automotive Apprenticeship: Open to current employees, students, entry-level job seekers, and individuals with prior industry experience or previous apprenticeship training. Network Kinection supports career development, job placement, and employer sourcing.

InTech Apprenticeship: Designed for incumbent workers (referred by employers) and entry-level job seekers with no prior experience. Network Kinection focuses on sourcing employers for this program, helping connect qualified candidates with industry opportunities.

Program focus: Automotive Apprenticeships

The Automotive Technology Apprenticeship Program at Long Beach City College is in its planning stages via California Apprenticeship Initiative funding and aims to prepare students for employment in the automotive industry by providing a strong foundation in automotive technology, hands-on experience, and an understanding of industry requirements. Network Kinection supports the program through employer sourcing and outreach, helping build the necessary employer base to move forward with this apprenticeship program.

Orange County Regional Consortium

Network Kinection is working in partnership with The Orange County Regional Consortium (OCRC) through regional Strong Workforce funding to connect students to internships and jobs in their field of study. After placing over 200 automotive and manufacturing students, Network Kinection has now added Retail, Hospitality and Toursim (RHT), Business, Information / Communication Technologies & Digital Media (ICT / DM) as sectors of focus in 2025.

IT + Mechatronics Apprenticeships

Mission College Santa Clara’s IT and Mechatronics Apprenticeship Programs develop apprenticeship opportunities that provide hands-on learning for local businesses aiming to upskill incumbent workers and students, promoting workforce development and career growth. Mission College has partnered with the LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network as a Local Education Agency for IT Apprenticeships. For Mechatronics, employers are currently working with Mission College to register their own apprenticeships with the Department of Labor (DOL). Network Kinection supports both programs through volume employer outreach.

OC Bridge to Engineering

The Orange County Bridge |2| Engineering Program is a cohort-based learning community at Saddleback College and Santa Ana College that focuses on increasing the participation of unrepresented minorities, women, and veterans in the field of engineering. The program will help participants explore careers in engineering and place them on an academic pathway to become engineers. Participants will take classes together, receive academic counseling, tutoring, intensive math preparation, and paid engineering internships. Participants will also be prepared to transfer to a four-year engineering program (CSU Fullerton, UC Irvine) to continue their academic pathway.

CNC Machinist and Drone Pilot Apprenticeships

CNC Machinist Apprenticeships

The CNC Machinist Apprenticeship Program is in its planning stages through California Apprenticeship Initiative funding and is aiming to prepare students for entry-level employment as CNC machine tool operators and enhances the skills of currently employed machinists, focusing on programming multi-axis CNC machines. Network Kinection is playing a key role in the creation of this apprenticeship alongside Fullerton College and Diag USA. Within those efforts, Network Kinection is focused on developing a base of employers for the initiative.

Drone Pilot Apprenticeships

The Fullerton Drone Lab provides students with real-world drone piloting experience through project-based courses and the first registered drone piloting apprenticeship program. Network Kinection works to source companies and establish partnerships with the college, collaborating with DIAG USA to connect industry partners that offer hands-on learning opportunities for students and incumbent workers. This partnership bridges the gap between education and industry, ensuring practical skill development.

Silicon Valley Engineering Technicians Pathway Program

The Silicon Valley Engineering Tech Pathways (SVETP) promotes an integrated and accelerated system of K-14 STEM career pathways targeted to high demand careers in computer science, engineering technology and advanced manufacturing, designed to address critical gaps in current educational and career pathways. SVETP will create a new, industry/employer engaged seamless transition from career technical education to high demand, high wage careers in three Industry Sector Pathways: Information and Computer Technology, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing. Although Silicon Valley is the nation's center for STEM careers, far too many young adults and students are not motivated to pursue or equipped to succeed in key regional employment. In addition to a lack of focused career orientation, defined career pathways, and needed academic and social support, a key challenge is the high threshold of math and science skills required to enter post-secondary STEM education and career pathways.

Saddleback Veterans IT

Connecting Veterans to careers in technology with career counseling, training, support services, internships, and job placement to create a pathway of success. Through a combination of these services and engagement of businesses in the greater Orange County area, students obtained internships and full time job opportunities in fields of their choice including: Network Administration, Tech Support, IT Consulting, Systems Analysis and more.
